Northern Michigan University Student Apartments

This university student apartment facility is approximately 104,000 sqft and features 89 apartments, 24 of which are four-bedroom units. All units also have a kitchen area, living area and bathroom. The new facility also includes meeting rooms, student lounge area, a multi-purpose room, fitness room, a reception area and a lobby with mailboxes.

Quad I Food Service & Dormitory Addition and Remodel

This 46,000 sqft fast-paced university project included demolition of the existing facility along with the addition of a basement. Once complete, the project adjoined four dormitories to the Food Service Facility. Crews worked around the clock, seven days a week in order to complete this project within the scheduled time frame of three months.

Renovation to Meyland and Van Antwerp Residence Halls


Gundlach Champion, Inc., completed two Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI, during the summers of 2006 and 2007. The Van Antwerp Hall renovation project, which received a LEED Silver status, was completed in 2007. A similar project – Meyland Hall renovation – received a LEED Certified designation in 2006. The LEED designations are governed by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. These two LEED-certified projects included major demolition and renovation, as well as new building entrances and roof, were completed during the schedule intense, three-month duration while the college students were on summer break.
