The treatment train for this facility consists of:
- Groundwater extraction system consisting of 45 recovery wells with electric submersible extraction pumps and appurtenant piping, electrical supply conduit/duct and cables/wires, valves, and instrumentation. Dedicated conveyance piping from each recovery well is routed to one of two intermediate pump houses for metering, consolidation, and control of the extracted groundwater. Instrumentation and controls from the pump houses are linked to the treatment system controls via fiber optic cable.
- Chemical/physical pretreatment to facilitate removal of dissolved minerals and suspended solids pumped from the geologic formation.
- 1st stage biological treatment consisting of activated sludge followed by clarification (with appurtenant sludge return and wastage equipment) for bulk BOD removal.
- 2nd stage biological treatment consisting of submerged fixed-film bioreactors followed by clarification as a polishing step to meet the monthly average discharge limitation for BOD (25 milligrams per liter).
- Effluent outfall structure consisting of rapid-mix diffusers to minimize the size of the acute toxicity mixing zone (4 square feet).
- Sludge storage and dewatering facilities (belt filter press)
- Laboratory and administration facilities.
